Cultural Differences – Australia vs Hungary

It’s been a bit over a month since I moved over to Australia, and this being my second visit here, I’ve been noticing some things. It might seem obvious that two countries that are more than 15.000 km apart would be different, but some of these things have really surprised me. I decided to collect them. So, without further ado, here are a few things that made me stop in my tracks as a Hungarian living in Australia.

Two of the most influential literary figures of 20th century Hungary, Dezső Kosztolányi and Frigyes Karinthy were known for their interest in the human psyche, philosophy and original sense of humor. Away from their typewriters they fostered a close and almost childlike friendship, while having mutual admiration for each other. It was the true bromance that transformed both of their lives as well as Hungarian literature.
